Pink Birthday Party

I wanted to share some ideas from my little girl's 1st birthday party we celebrated this last weekend.

Some ideas include:
Fresh spring flowers {albertsons}
Photos hung on a ribbon for display
Jars filled with sweet treats

Banner with birthday girl's name {enjoyed making this a lot!}
Pink cupcakes with "A's" and "1's" {paper matched banner}
Pink and white polka dot balloons {big impact for small $}

Pink lemonade {to match decor of course}
Pink tissue balls {see tutorial on sidebar}
More photos on ribbon and jars

Pink party dress {old navy}
Pink personalized chair {pottery barn}
Birthday hat {zurchers}
Miniature crown {adorable but didn't stay on very well}
Photo book documenting 1st year for guests to look at {also for me to look back and cry at how fast she grew}

More pink flowers {this one was my fave}
Princess wands for the kiddos {even the boys loved these}
Pink bucket {also her Easter basket}
Invitation {accordian style designed by Chantri Keele}

It was a super fun day! Even though I know Miss Ava won't remember this party, I hope she will always feel how much she is
LOVED.

party hats!

I made these party hats for my son's 2nd birthday party. The kids loved them!

TO MAKE:

  • measure 10" from a corner of scrapbook paper down each side and in the middle of paper (three spots)

  • make three little marks with pen

  • cut from dot to dot to dot

  • now you have a cylinder shape

  • cut 1-2" strips of fabric or felt

  • with sewing maching, sew the fabric strips right along the bottom, ruffling it as you go (I just kept folding, tucking under the foot, and sewing)

  • tape or staple hat together

  • hot glue a pom on top

  • hot glue stretchy cord inside in two spots (staples wouldn't hold)
HINT: You can use 12x12 paper, or since they didn't have 12x12 in the print I wanted, I taped two 8 1/2x11 papers together. It makes 2 hats and leaves almost no scraps.  Cardstock paper is recommended, however; my paper was not real heavy and worked fine. :)

I made his hat a little different from the rest and put a number 2 on it.

CupCake Pop!

How Adorable Are These?   It's so clever how they turned them into Cupcake Shapes by using a Flower Cookie Cutter.  I found Instructions to make them HERE.  I think I might just have to make them for the next Birthday Party!

birthday book

The BIRTHDAY BOOK is a book that has a page for each month. On each month I wrote family members' birthdays. It is both cute and functional! You can add on birthdays as your family grows and the best part is you won't forget anyone's birthday!
1) Buy a blank chipboard book. Any size or shape you want. (Just make sure it has 6 pages to equal 12 front and back) Or just cut some heavy cardstock. My blank chipboard book is from Roberts.
2) Get out all your old scrapbook stuff. Ribbons, paper. chipboard letters, etc.. This is a great project to use your old stuff- especially if you have swithed to digital scrapbooking!
3) Cover all the chipboard and include a paper that you want to write the birthdays on. I used actual notebook paper for this.
4) Stamp the months onto the pages and write in your family/friends birhdays.
5) I used chipboard for the cover to write "Birthdays."
6) Punch holes in your book (I used a cropadile) and put big rings in the holes. (Rings are very reasonably priced at hobby lobby).
7) Tie lots of ribbons on the rings.
8) Embellish the pages anywhere you have room. I wrote some birthday quotes where there was room.
Birthday quotes for you to use:
"They say birthdays are good for you, the more you have, the longer you live!"
"The more candles the bigger the wish!"
"Life is not a matter of counting years, it's a matter of making years count."

Luau birthday party

For my son's first birthday, we had a "hawaiian luau" themed party at Bear Lake. It turned out so fun because there are lots of Hawaiian party themed supplies at party stores. The colors I went with were orange, blue, and lime. I put little umbrellas in the cupcakes with some luau themed confetti on top. All of the guests were given a leigh.
