animal print!

Next week is my son's 2nd birthday. The party theme is Jungle Jeep Safari. So, I made him a bib to wear out of brown zebra fabric from hobby lobby. I put turquoise on the back and made it a little bigger than the front so it shows around the edges. Then, I decided since we will be having a little BBQ, I needed a cute apron to wear...

I didn't hem anything under, I LOVE the frayed edge look. It goes well with animal print, I thought. I will post more party ideas as they come. :)

T-Shirt Aprons

Really an apron out of an old T-Shirt?  I can't really express how much I am in
Love with this idea.

like sew...

one yard of fabric... two fun projects!!
I bought this cute turquoise/brown fabric at Hobby Lobby. With it I made a simple sewing machine cover.
It was really easy. Just follow Martha Stewarts instructions HERE. I made mine with 2 bows instead of one to hold it together a little better.
Then I realized I still had quite a bit of this adorable fabric, so I made this apron.

I didn't hem the edges, I ripped the fabric when possible to make frayed edges. then I sewed a simple pocket right on top. No hemming.. just frayed edges again. Then, I sewed little strips of fabric across the top. I just ruffled it under as I sewed and used no pins. I found that you can't really mess up, just keep sewing the strips on and soon it looks like cute ruffles. Then I sewed ribbon for the neck and for the back ties. I still have a big chunk of fabric left... maybe I will make a little bib or something. :)

Cleaning Apron

This cleaning apron is perfect for quick, all through the house cleaning. I use one pocket for my ipod and little random things that need to be picked up and taken to another room such as army men, bobby pins, or a cheerio. :) The other pocket is used for my cleaning supplies. I bought these cleaning wipes at Dollar Tree. They are great! There are kithen/bathroom wipes, windex wipes, and furniture wipes. Each pack has 24! Why not clean in style? You can use any apron you already have that has big enough pockets, or you can make this one. I just cut out this apron by looking at my favorite apron. I kept it simple and fringed- looking by not hemming it under,  Even the pockets have raw edges that add to that raggy look. For the bottom, I sewed a strip of lace on top of a strip of fabric. Anything to make cleaning more fun, right?
