A New Favorite

I have been a fan of SCARLET LIME for a couple years now.  If you're not familiar with this fabulous scrapbook company check them out here.

The owner, Christy, has recently started advertising something new for their company. It's called mixed media art. Not a new concept really, just new the way she does it and uses her scrapbook kits to make the cool art on canvas.

Check out her website for more inspiration and if you fall in love like I did, you can sign up for one of her online courses. It's seriously addicting!

scrapbook paper- christmas frame decor

Using scrapbook paper, and a little wrapping paper, I made a 'collage' of the strips of paper. One of the strips has our Christmas traditions written on it. You could also type this. I put the project in an old frame I had lying around that was not a normal size, and voila- a fun holiday decoration. Even though you know your traditions, its fun to read them and make sure you don't forget to do something. Even add things you do during December (not just Christmas Eve/Christmas) such as 'watch Frosty the Snowman, 'decorate the tree.'
Just for fun I will share my top 3 traditions:
-Wearing elf hats to bed with new jammies (carried on from my parents)
-Sleighriding on Christmas Eve
-Making gingerbread houses together as a family

Costume book

This 'Halloween Book' shows my son's costumes each year. I just made it out of cardstock and scrapbook paper. It will be so fun to look back and see all the fun things he was for Halloween and how he grew. It also makes a great little decoration on an easel. Get out your old Halloween scrapbook scraps and make something!

budget book

I got out my scrapbooking scraps and made a fun little budget book. There are sections with tabs that say things like, 'Utilities, gasoline, groceries, etc.' The tabs are attached to big white envelopes. Great for sticking receipts in that section, or statements or even coupons. In the beginning of the book, I included those clear pockets that came with an old wallet, this holds stamps, post its, money, etc. You could also include a section of scratch paper. This book makes having a budget more fun!

birthday book

The BIRTHDAY BOOK is a book that has a page for each month. On each month I wrote family members' birthdays. It is both cute and functional! You can add on birthdays as your family grows and the best part is you won't forget anyone's birthday!
1) Buy a blank chipboard book. Any size or shape you want. (Just make sure it has 6 pages to equal 12 front and back) Or just cut some heavy cardstock. My blank chipboard book is from Roberts.
2) Get out all your old scrapbook stuff. Ribbons, paper. chipboard letters, etc.. This is a great project to use your old stuff- especially if you have swithed to digital scrapbooking!
3) Cover all the chipboard and include a paper that you want to write the birthdays on. I used actual notebook paper for this.
4) Stamp the months onto the pages and write in your family/friends birhdays.
5) I used chipboard for the cover to write "Birthdays."
6) Punch holes in your book (I used a cropadile) and put big rings in the holes. (Rings are very reasonably priced at hobby lobby).
7) Tie lots of ribbons on the rings.
8) Embellish the pages anywhere you have room. I wrote some birthday quotes where there was room.
Birthday quotes for you to use:
"They say birthdays are good for you, the more you have, the longer you live!"
"The more candles the bigger the wish!"
"Life is not a matter of counting years, it's a matter of making years count."
